DENIS
WOYCHUK

Although Denis painted on and off all his life, he discontinued for a number of years to write musicals, children’s books, and a memoir about the criminally insane and to practice law. However, with the invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 2022, he could only find comfort with a brush. He began his Invasion Protest Paintings on window screens, found wood, whatever was handy and today continues on canvas, and found objects. He’s had three books published, four musicals produced, and photography published in “S”, the international fashion magazine. While a young adjunct professor at Pratt Institute, Woychuk opened the Kraine Gallery in 1983 with artists he had met there and in the East Village (aka Little Ukraine). He opened the internationally touted literary bar, Kraine Gallery Bar dba KGB Bar (a satirist nod to post communist nostalgia) in 1993.
